Carla Worthey-Sewell, PhD, SPHR, PCC, is an executive coach and human capital consultant with nearly 30 years of experience in human capital, business management, and leadership development. She specializes in empowering organizations and executive leaders through targeted talent strategies that align with their business objectives. Carla's career spans executive roles at prominent organizations, including Amazon, HCA Healthcare, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. As Head of Talent Management for Worldwide Amazon Stores, she led talent management initiatives across the tech sector, ensuring that leadership capabilities aligned with the organization’s global strategic vision. Her efforts in building sustainable and scalable frameworks for talent forecasting, evaluation, succession planning, leadership development, organizational design, and pipeline programs have established a consistent approach to talent lifecycle management across various regions and functions. Additionally, she spearheaded multiple AI-driven talent management initiatives.
At HCA Healthcare, Carla held multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Vice President of Executive Talent Acquisition and Development, where she oversaw executive recruiting and built enterprise-wide processes for evaluation, succession, and leadership analytics. Earlier, as Assistant Vice President of HR Strategic Analytics, she established HCA’s first people data science function, delivering solutions in engagement, retention, compensation, and patient experience through data infrastructure, interactive dashboards, and advanced analytics. She also directed executive development initiatives and led the execution of leadership programs for hospital operations. Before joining HCA, Carla launched and led the first Leadership Development function at Teva Pharmaceuticals, driving executive evaluation, succession, and selection assessments for the U.S. Women’s Health division, while also serving on the company’s Executive Leadership Council with international rotations in Canada and The Netherlands. Her career began in consulting, including assignments in the aerospace sector across South America and Western Europe.
Carla holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from Belmont University, and a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Benedictine University. She is also a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
